  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • ½ tsp chili powder (optional for heat)
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp beef drippings
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

Instructions

  1. Rub the brisket with olive oil, salt, pepper, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and optional chili powder for added heat.
  2. In a skillet over medium-high heat, sear the brisket on all sides until browned.
  3. Combine beef broth, barbecue sauce, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, and brown sugar in a bowl; mix well.
  4. Place the brisket in a slow cooker or roasting pan and pour the sauce over it. Cover and cook on low until fork-tender (approximately 8 hours).
  5. Sauté onions and garlic in butter until translucent; add to the cooked brisket along with extra Worcestershire sauce and brown sugar for caramelization.
  6. Let rest before shredding; serve warm.
