  • 1 cup milk (dairy or non-dairy)
  • 1 3/4 cups white flour (+ 3/4 cup separated)
  • 1/4 cup dark cocoa powder
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil or melted coconut oil
  • 3/4 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup white sugar
  • 1/2 tbsp instant active dry yeast
  • 1/4 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 23 tbsp sugar
  • 1/4 cup chocolate chips
  • 4 oz cream cheese (at room temperature)
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter (at room temperature)
  • 12 tbsp peanut butter (to taste)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • pinch of salt
  • chopped peanut butter cups

Instructions

  1. In a large nonstick pot, heat milk, oil, and sugar until about 120F. Sprinkle yeast on top and let sit for a few minutes.
  2. Mix in flour and cocoa powder, cover, and let rise for about an hour.
  3. Add salt, baking powder, baking soda, and additional flour; knead until smooth.
  4. Roll out dough into a rectangle; spread with peanut butter and sprinkle with sugar and chocolate chips.
  5. Roll tightly from one long side; slice into pieces and place in a greased pan. Let rise for another hour or overnight.
  6. Preheat oven to 375F and bake rolls for 15-18 minutes until tops are dry.
  7. Prepare frosting by beating cream cheese, butter, peanut butter, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and salt until smooth.
  8. Frost cooled rolls and enjoy!
