  • 1 sheet frozen puff pastry
  • 8 ounces cream cheese (room temperature)
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Zest and juice from 1 lemon
  • Additional egg for wash
  • 1/4 cup turbinado sugar
  • 3/4 cup powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Thaw the puff pastry and roll it out into a rectangle (12"x16").
  3. Cut strips (1/2" wide) along both sides of the pastry.
  4. Mix cream cheese with sugar, egg, vanilla, salt, lemon zest, and juice until smooth.
  5. Spoon filling down the center of the pastry.
  6. Braid the strips over the filling alternately from each side.
  7. Brush with egg wash and sprinkle turbinado sugar on top.
  8. Bake for 18-20 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Cool slightly before drizzling with icing made from powdered sugar and lemon juice.
