  • 1 cup unsalted butter (cold)
  • 1 cup + 2 tbsp semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3 tbsp dark cocoa powder
  • 2 tbsp espresso powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 1/4 cups granulated sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/2 tbsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 F (180 C) and line an 8×8 baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a stainless steel pan, melt cold butter over medium heat until browned, about 10-12 minutes.
  3. Pour browned butter into a bowl and add chocolate chips; stir until melted.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, espresso powder, and salt.
  5. In a mixing bowl, whisk eggs, sugar, and vanilla until fluffy.
  6. Gradually mix in the chocolate-butter mixture until combined.
  7. Fold in the dry ingredients gently until just combined.
  8. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 30-40 minutes or until a toothpick comes out with moist crumbs.
  9. Cool completely before cutting into squares.
