  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder

  • 1/2 cup crushed peppermint candies (divided)
  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (optional)

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. Melt the unsalted butter in a bowl until fully liquid but not bubbling. Allow it to cool slightly.
  3. Mix in the granulated sugar until smooth, then add the eggs and vanilla extract, stirring well.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, and salt. Gradually fold this mixture into the wet ingredients until just combined.
  5. Gently fold in half of the crushed peppermint candies and optional chocolate chips.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared pan, spreading evenly. Sprinkle remaining crushed peppermint on top.
