Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 1/2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons minced garlic
  • 3 1/2 cups + 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 3 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons instant yeast
  • 1 teaspoon fine sea salt
  • 1 cup whole or 2% milk (warmed)
  • 1 large egg (room temperature)
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter (for garlic butter topping)
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic (for garlic butter topping)
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley (for garlic butter topping)
  • Flaky sea salt (for finishing)

Instructions

  1. Prepare your baking pan by lightly buttering the bottom and sides of a 9×13 pan.
  2. In a small pot, melt butter and add minced garlic; cook for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  3. In a stand mixing bowl, combine flour, parsley, sugar, yeast, and salt. Add warmed milk, egg, and cooled garlic butter mixture.
  4. Knead on low speed with a dough hook for about 10-12 minutes until smooth and tacky.
  5. Shape the kneaded dough into 12 equal portions and place in the prepared pan; cover and let rise in a warm spot until doubled in size (about 1-2 hours).
  6. Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C). Brush risen rolls with beaten egg wash before baking for about 20-30 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Prepare more garlic butter while baking; brush over hot rolls after they come out of the oven.
