  • 4 cups low-sodium chicken broth
  • 1 medium yellow onion, diced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • 1 lemon, juiced and zested
  • ¼ cup fresh parsley, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil and butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Sauté diced onion until softened, then add minced garlic and red pepper flakes.
  2. Stir in the orzo pasta and toast for 1–2 minutes until fragrant.
  3. Pour in chicken broth along with lemon zest, salt, and pepper; bring to a boil. Reduce heat, cover, and simmer for about 10–12 minutes until most liquid is absorbed.
  4. Gently stir in shrimp; cover again and cook until shrimp are pink.
  5. Remove from heat; stir in Parmesan cheese and heavy cream until creamy.
