  • 2 (7 oz) packs cooked or frozen udon noodles
  • 1 tbsp vegetable or avocado oil
  • ½ small onion, thinly sliced
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 tbsp low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp hoisin sauce
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch mixed with 3 tbsp water (slurry)
  • 1 tsp freshly cracked black pepper
  • ½ tsp sesame oil

Instructions

  1. Thinly slice the beef against the grain and season lightly with salt and pepper.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, hoisin, sugar, black pepper, sesame oil, and cornstarch slurry.
  3. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the seasoned beef for about 2–3 minutes until browned; remove from the pan.
  4. In the same skillet, sauté garlic and onion for about 1–2 minutes until fragrant.
  5. Add udon noodles and prepared sauce to the skillet; toss gently to combine while heating through.
  6. Return seared beef to the pan; mix well until heated through and coated in sauce.
