Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb skinless boneless chicken thighs
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup orange juice (freshly squeezed)
  • 2 tbsp white vinegar
  • 6 tbsp brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 garlic cloves (minced)
  • 1/4 tsp ginger powder
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1/2 tsp red chili flakes (optional)
  • 1/2 green onion (finely chopped, optional garnish)
  • 1 tbsp orange zest (grated, optional garnish)
  • 1 tsp sesame seeds (toasted, optional garnish)

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, mix orange juice, vinegar, brown sugar, soy sauce, minced garlic, ginger powder, and cornstarch to create the sauce.
  2. Dice chicken thighs into 1.5-inch cubes without drying them to help cornstarch adhere.
  3. Coat chicken pieces in cornstarch until evenly covered.
  4. Heat vegetable oil in a large pan over medium-high heat; fry chicken in batches until golden brown (about 6-8 minutes).
  5. Drain excess oil on a wire rack or paper towels.
  6. Pour the prepared sauce into the same pan and simmer until thickened (about one minute).
  7. Add crispy chicken back into the pan and toss gently to coat before serving.
