  • 250 g All-purpose flour
  • 100 g Butter
  • 100 ml Boiling water
  • 1 tsp Salt (divided)
  • 400 g Ground lamb or beef
  • 1 tsp Onion (finely chopped)
  • 1 tsp White pepper
  • 0.5 tsp Black pepper
  • 0.5 tsp Ground mace
  • 0.25 tsp Ground nutmeg

Instructions

  1. Make the pastry by mixing hot water and butter into flour and salt until smooth.
  2. Prepare the filling by combining ground meat, onion, spices, and remaining salt.
  3. Roll out pastry and cut circles for pie bases and tops.
  4. Fill pastry cases with meat mixture and seal edges.
  5. Brush with beaten egg and bake at 180°C (350°F) for 30–35 minutes until golden brown.
  6. Allow to cool slightly before serving.
