  • 1 large egg (room temperature)
  • 1 1/3 cups almond meal
  • 2 teaspoons almond extract
  • 4 ounces softened cream cheese (for frosting)
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, yeast, and salt.
  2. Stir in warmed milk, melted butter, and the egg until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8 to 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise for about 30-45 minutes until doubled in size.
  5. Roll out the risen dough into a rectangle (about 16×12 inches), spread softened butter on top, then sprinkle almond meal and sugar evenly.
  6. Roll up tightly from one long edge into a log shape and slice into twelve equal pieces.
  7. Place rolls in a greased baking dish and let rise for another 30 minutes while preheating the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  8. Bake for about 25 minutes or until golden brown.
  9. For frosting, mix softened cream cheese with powdered sugar and extracts until smooth; drizzle over warm rolls.
