  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp water or broth
  • 1 tbsp doubanjiang (or miso with chili flakes)
  • 1/2 tbsp chili oil or chili garlic sauce
  • 23 tsp sugar (to taste)
  • 2 tbsp black vinegar (or rice vinegar)
  • 2 tsp sesame oil
  • 1/2 tsp sesame seeds (optional)
  • 1 tsp minced garlic
  • Chopped fresh scallions and coriander for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare 'The Best Dumpling Sauce' by mixing soy sauce, water or broth, doubanjiang, chili oil, sugar, black vinegar, sesame oil, minced garlic, and sesame seeds in a bowl until well combined. Adjust flavors to preference.
  2. If using frozen dumplings, arrange them in a bamboo steamer lined with parchment paper. If making from scratch, fill each wrapper with about one teaspoon of filling, seal tightly.
  3. Steam the dumplings over boiling water for 12-15 minutes if fresh or 15-20 minutes if frozen until they turn translucent.
  4. Serve hot alongside the prepared dipping sauce and garnish with chopped scallions and coriander.
