Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 large sweet onion (like Vidalia or Walla Walla)
  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • ½ teaspoon ground cumin
  • ½ teaspoon dried thyme
  • ½ teaspoon dried oregano
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup water
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Oil in a spray bottle

Instructions

  1. Preheat your air fryer to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cut the top off the onion and peel away the outer layers. Place it cut-side down on a cutting board and make downward cuts to create petal sections.
  3. In a large bowl, combine flour, paprika, cayenne pepper, cumin, thyme, oregano, salt, and pepper.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, and water until frothy.
  5. Coat the onion with the flour mixture, dip in the egg wash, then coat with flour again.
  6. Spray the coated onion generously with oil and place it cut-side up in the air fryer basket.
  7. Cook for approximately 25 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
